The Dental Assisting Technology and Management program is designed to prepare students for employment as dental assistants.  Students graduate with entry-level skills for general chair sider, dental laboratory and business office administration.  Students completing this Applied Technology Diploma (ATD) program at Manatee Technical College will be awarded guaranteed college credit upon enrollment in the AS Degree Program for Dental Assisting Technology and Management at the community college level.  The program is accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation and the Florida State Board of Dentistry.  Students must be 18 years of age with a high school diploma or the equivalent. Limit 20 students/class.  Application deadline 30 days prior to program start date.

Program Mission Statement: The mission of the dental assisting program at Manatee Technical College is to meet the dental assisting needs of our community by training and preparing qualified individuals to achieve professional status as competent dental assistants who have graduated with the skills and credentials required to perform Florida Expanded Functions and Dental Radiography, and the knowledge and capabilities necessary to pass the Dental Assisting National Board (DANB).

How to Apply for Dental Assisting

Step 1:  Attend a 60 minute information session offered monthly.  

You will receive information concerning the Dental Assisting program offered at Manatee Tech, application materials, and Financial Aid information.  All sessions are held at the East Campus, 5520 Lakewood Ranch Blvd., Bradenton, FL 34211. You do not have to register to attend, just show up early or on time and bring a pen.  Call 941.752.8100 x 2100 to confirm session date.  Session will be held on the following dates:

Step 4: Sign up to take the Complete Battery (3 hour) TABE test at East Campus by Contacting us at 941.752.8100 x 2100

 An official college transcript proving a degree awarded will exempt you from the TABE test

Step 5.Make an Appointment with a Career Counselor by Contacting us at 941.752.8100 x 2127  to turn in a completedDental Assisting Program Application Packet Located Here by deadline date and pay medical application fee of $30.

Step 6:  Receive An Acceptance or Non-Acceptance Letter.

Step 8: Send In Your Response Form

When accepted, mail or drop off the completed Response Form to Manatee Tech East Campus, Attn: Kathy Matthews, 5520 Lakewood Ranch Blvd., Bradenton, FL 34211. Or, fax to 941.727.6257

Step 9: Register, pay fees, buy books, get ID

Register on your designated date and time that was included on your acceptance letter. Please buy the necessary Books and obtain your ID at our Main Campus located at 6305 SR 70 East, Bradenton, FL 34211

NOTE:  All fees associated with this application process are non-refundable.  If you are not accepted and intend to reapply, please make arrangements to pick up your application documents.  All application documents will be shredded within 30 days after course start date.

Please make copies of all documents before turning in anything.  We cannot make copies for you. 


Graduates receive a state certificate in dental radiography and dental assisting expanded functions.  Students are prepared to take the Dental Assisting National Board exam, which earns them the credential of Certified Dental Assistant.
