ROBOTS, MACHINES, AND MAKING THINGS!

A Summer Camp for 12-17 Year Olds, June 5-9, 2017, at Manatee Technical College

Sponsored by the Foundation of the Fabricators and Manufacturers Association, Int’l

Goals…

To introduce young people to careers in manufacturing by exposing them to manufacturers and providing them with hands-on experiences in machining, welding, and electronics (robotics).

What to expect…

Students will have field trips to 2 manufacturers, interact with 4 guest speakers, learn about being an entrepreneur, and make and take home 3 projects during the week of June 5-9, 2017.

What you’ll get…

Students will receive a camp t-shirt, a morning and afternoon snack and lunch each day, and all the supplies and materials needed to complete the hands-on projects, and bus transportation to the field trip sites.

Manufacturing  focus…

Students will be introduced to manufacturing processes, such as CNC, finishing, machining, robotics, CAD/CAM, Cutting, Electronics Technology, Setup, tooling, polishing, soldering, and welding.

Hands-on experiences…

Students will have the opportunity to use the following equipment: plasma cutter, CNC mill, soldering stations, and robotic trainers at Manatee Technical College.

Requirements…

12-17 years of age •  All forms completed & signed (see checklist)  •  Notice of acceptance received •  $50 paid (after acceptance) by May 25  •  Pre- and post-camp surveys completed first and last day of camp •

Agreement to be on time, treat others respectfully, ready to learn and be safe, and have fun!
