Medical assistants graduate from Manatee Technical College
(Bradenton, FL—December 15, 2015) The Medical Assisting program at Manatee Technical College held a graduation ceremony on Tuesday evening in Wagner Auditorium. Seven students completed the career certificate program in the first semester of 2015. This was the one of the smaller graduation ceremonies scheduled throughout the year for Manatee Tech.
Class president Jeminii Brown addressed the class, thanking instructors and family for their support throughout the year. “We’re surrounded by all of the people who taught and inspired us throughout our lives—parents, family members, teachers, and most importantly our children. All of us graduating today can reflect on this year and feel a broad range of emotions from making new friendships, learning new things, making personal sacrifices and being successful.”
Brown’s fellow graduates were Sarah DeGaetano, Jenah Furtaw, Manoella Gomez, Brittney Lesperence, Avani Patel, and Shawnta Pittman.
Program director Linda Chamberlain told the audience that all of the students worked while going to school full-time, and they maintained more than a 91% grade point average. Instructor Teresa Masterson commented on the gifts each student brought to the program and that she saw in them “tenacity, intelligence and perseverance.”
The graduates recited the medical assistant’s creed at the end of the ceremony. As Brown put it, “We are the voice of the voiceless and advocates for those who cannot advocate for themselves. Some of us may enter into the field and some of us may be continuing our education but we all share on thing in common, we are certified medical assistants.
