MTC students win 20 medals at HOSA Regionals

(Bradenton, FL—February 9, 2017) Over 450 students from Manatee, DeSoto and Sarasota counties filled the Manatee Technical College East Campus on February 2 to compete during the HOSA Future Health Professionals 2017 Regional Conference. Students from Manatee District Schools won more medals than any other district in the HOSA Region 5 event.

MTC students won 9 gold, 7 silver, and 4 bronze medals in the college division. Four students won 4th place ribbons and three took 5th place.

The students competed in leadership and teamwork events, emergency preparedness events, health science events such as medical terminology and medical math, and health professions events such as dental science, massage therapy, and medical assisting.

Medalists are eligible to compete at the state level in Orlando, April 6-9.

HOSA is a national career and technical student organization. Its mission is to enhance the delivery of compassionate, quality health care by providing opportunities for knowledge, skill and leadership development of all health science education students, therefore helping the student meet the needs of the health care community.
