Jay Romine, director of the Florida Law Enforcement Academy at Manatee Technical College’s Lakewood Ranch campus, just got an addition to his resume.

Romine is now the chairman of the Criminal Justice Training Center Directors Association for the State of Florida.

The Law Enforcement Academy at MTC is one of 40 certified criminal justice training centers in Florida.

According to MTC, The Training Centers Directors Association is tasked by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement to represent all of the centers in matters relating to the Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission and all aspects of basic and advanced training for future and current law enforcement and correctional officers in the state.

Romine’s election took place at the Feb. 4 meeting of the Florida Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission in Destin.  Romine formerly served as a member of that commission for 10 years, as the chair for three years, and as the vice-chair of the Center Directors Association for six months prior to this election.
