Manatee Technical College dental assisting students, Manatee School District school nurses, and volunteer dentists worked together to offer dental services to 25 elementary school children on October 20 at MTC East Campus. Dentists Robb Hynton and Maria Pardo gave exams, while the MTC dental assisting students assisted them, performed x-rays, cleanings and sealants, and provided dental care education. According to school nurse Cheryl Stuart, about half the children were homeless. The project, formerly known as We Care, is now known as Project Smart Smiles.
