Students help people in need at Hope Portraits

Manatee Tech barbering student Charles Green trims a boy’s hair at the annual Hope Portrait event at the First Baptist Church in Bradenton on Saturday.  Over 40 Manatee Tech students volunteered offering hair cuts, styles, make-up and nail services to 35 people in need who came to get their photo taken for free who couldn’t otherwise afford it.   “The people who came were really appreciative,” said Green.  The  students performed the cosmetology services as a community service project for SkillsUSA.  Green added, “Helping people out is why I got into barbering in the first place.”
