Nine MTC Students Won Medals at 2024 SkillsUSA Nationals
(Bradenton, FL—July 3, 2024) Nine Manatee Technical College students showcased their skills winning first, second or third in the nation at the SkillsUSA 2024 National Championships in Atlanta. The students were among 6,000 state champions from across the U.S. who competed in 115 skill and leadership competitions.
MTC champions:
- Ricardo Campbell and Alejandro Hernandez, digital video technology students, placed first in the nation in TV Video Production in the College/Postsecondary (PS) division.
- Daniel Hatvany won second in the nation in Marine Service Technology, College/PS.
- AJ Peters, automotive service technology student, ranked second in the nation in Automotive Maintenance & Light Repair in the HS division.
And five MTC dental assisting students medaled in three competitions in the College/PS division:
- Damarian Vincent, achieved third in the nation in Dental Assisting,
- Serina Marshall, won third in the nation in Action Skills, and
- Nayeli Centeno-Figueroa, Irma Galvan, and Jessica Leseberg placed third in the nation in Career Pathways Showcase-Health Services, a team event.
The SkillsUSA Championships is the largest showcase of top ranked career and technical education students in the United States. Competitions are held in a space the size of 31 football fields. Around 2,000 industry volunteers serve as judges for the competitions.
