Fire Science Academy announces start dates of next two classes and mandatory orientation

(Bradenton, FL—November 30, 2015)   The Fire Science Academy of Manatee Technical College has announced the start dates of the next two classes it will offer.  Themandatory orientation is set for 9:00 a.m. Saturday, February 27, 2016, at MTC’s East Campus.

 

Class #28 will be an evening and weekend class (Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday) staring March 29, 2016, the week after Spring Break.  Students are scheduled to complete Fire Fighter I & II in January 2017, after which they will begin the Emergency Medical Technician portion of the program and finish by mid-April 2017.

 

Class #29 will be a day class (Monday through Friday) staring March 28, 2016.  Students are scheduled to complete Fire Fighter I & II in early July 2016.  The EMT portion of the program is slated to start in late August 2016 and will finish at the end of October 2016.

 

The MTC Fire Science Academy classes are approved by the Florida Bureau of Fire Standards and Training.  Completion of the Fire Fighter program and passage of the state certification examination is required by the state to become a Certified Fire Fighter.

 

Students must be at least 18 years of age with a high school diploma.  They must pass a background check, a physical and a drug screen.  Attendance at an 8-hour orientation is also required.
