Program Details

Program Description:

The General Education Development (GED®) Program prepares you for academic and personal success. You will obtain the necessary skills to pass the GED® tests and earn a State of Florida High School Diploma. You will receive instruction in the four subject areas that are on the GED® test:

  • Reasoning through Language Arts (RLA)
  • Mathematics
  • Science
  • Social Studies

GED® Testing: Access GED® Testing requirements, registration information, location, undergrade waiver procedure information, and waiver form.

July 8th to July 19th

Start Dates:

September 3rd

End Date:

December 19th

Program Length:

This is an individualized program. Program length is dependent on the individual’s circumstances and preparation (prior knowledge, learning ability, and weekly hourly commitment).

Times *:

Day: Mondays – Thursdays
8:00 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.
11:00 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.

Cortez Day: 8:30 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.

Hybrid evenings: Mondays/Wednesdays or Tuesdays/Thursdays 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. and 5 online hours per week.
Online: Minimum of 10 hours per week, and one weekly Zoom meeting

Goodwill Manasota Retail Store, 3465 Cortez Road West; Bradenton, FL 34205

1. PRIOR TO APPLYING, gather the following required documents or student will not be admitted:

  • A government-issued ID (driver’s license, Florida Identification card, passport)
  • ONLY FOR 16-17 year olds: a high school withdrawal form from the LAST high school attended.  The form must include an administrative signature and withdrawal code.  YOU MUST BE ACTIVELY WITHDRAWN FROM YOUR HIGH SCHOOL TO OBTAIN THIS DOCUMENTATION!

2. Apply to MTC GED Prep classes at https://www.manateetech.edu/apply-now/ . Submit your application and immediately begin on your “To Do List.”

3. Upon application submission, immediately submit your required documents (see #1 above) to: MTCGED@manateeschools.netPLEASE NOTE:  Applications will not be processed fully until all documents are received and approved. This means absolutely no placement testing or scheduling can occur.

4. Once the application and documents are received, your Career Counselor will contact you within 5-7 business days to schedule placement tests.
