Manatee Tech students win 71 Florida Skills medals | From the Bradenton Herald

BRADENTON — Manatee Technical College students won 71 medals recently at the 2015 Florida SkillsUSA Conference in Lakeland.

The 34 first-place winners will head to the national championships in Louisville, Ky., in June.

Students from high schools, technical centers and colleges statewide competed in more than 100 skill and leadership contests.

A mother and daughter won gold medals: culinary arts student Elizabeth Steinke placed first in the high school division of restaurant service. Her mother, Kelly Steinke, a business technology student, was on the winning Quiz Bowl team in the college division with teammates Annie Gooch, Bob Craig, Marshal Gaunt and Cheyenne DeHart.
