Manatee Technical College ‘Day of Beauty’ a success | From the Bradenton Herald

MTC’s Next Day of Beauty is April 2

MANATEE — The Day of Beauty offered by cosmetology students at Manatee Technical College was a success Saturday, according to a news release.

Students gave facials, makeup, haircuts, hair color, manicures, pedicures and waxing from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the college, 6305 E. State Road 70, Bradenton.

The event was a fundraiser to pay expenses to compete at the National SkillsUSA Championships.

Mother and daughter, Melissa and Hannah Royce, enjoyed their first pedicures.

“It’s awesome!” said high school senior Hannah. “I’ll definitely be back next time for a facial.”

Nail students Adriana Moldonado and Jennifer Ovalle, dual-enrolled high school students at MTC, took care of the Royces.

Melissa said: “The girls are very professional. It’s a very comfortable experience.”

Cosmetology student Lynn Marie Ortiz styled Cheryl Bourque’s hair.

“Every chance I get, I come here,” said Bourque, executive assistant to the legal department for Manatee County School District. “I’ve done facials, cut, color. I enjoy talking with the students. They do a great job — if not better than a salon.

“I was here Thursday evening for a cut, and at work the next day everyone was loving my hair.”

Bourque got a “peek-a-boo” color, style and makeup to get ready for an anniversary dinner with her husband.

The student clinic at MTC is open two Saturdays a month, and several days and evenings throughout the week.

The next Day of Beauty is April 2. Nail and skin services available by appointment only.

Walk-ins for hair services are welcome till 1 p.m.

Call: 941-751-7900, ext. 1080, for a skin appointment or ext. 1145, for nails.
