MTC honors outstanding business partners at annual fall meeting
(Bradenton, FL—October 13, 2017) Manatee Technical College honored four business partners at its annual fall advisory committee meeting. Named as this year’s Outstanding Business Partners were Air Products, Alvic Appliances and Services, First Physicians Group of Sarasota Memorial Hospital, and the Nurse Educators Team of Manatee Memorial Hospital.
Jennifer Seavey received the award on behalf of Air Products. Air Products supports MTC’s Welding program via donations to the program, scholarships to students, hiring graduates, and underwriting student shirts for national competitions.
Allen Dickson, owner of Alvic Appliances and Services and chairperson of the MTC Major Appliance program advisory committee, was honored for hiring “more [MTC] students than anyone else in the industry” and for donating trade-in appliances to allow students to work on “the real thing.”
Accepting the award for First Physician’s Group of Sarasota Memorial Hospital was Anne Murray, the group’s operations improvement manager. The group advises MTC’s Medical Assisting program on medical issues and trends and is a leader in hiring program graduates.
Representing the Nurse Educator Team at Manatee Memorial Hospital were Rhonda Hawks, Sandi Letourneau, Karen Kolega, and Mel Hollis. The team won the award for making student learning in the clinical setting a stellar experience, streamlining the orientation process, and going above and beyond.
MTC honors outstanding business partners once in the fall and once in the spring each year. The majority of MTC’s advisory committee members are local employers. The members play an integral role in MTC fulfilling its mission to meet the ever-changing needs of our communities and the workforce.
