MTC major appliance graduates gain national recognition

(Bradenton, FL—May 25, 2018)  Five Major Appliance Technician graduates from Manatee Technical College have gained national recognition from the Professional Service Association (PSA). Kimheng Teav, Richard L. Rousey, Joseph Rousey, Alexander Mohesky, and Mark Cline are among a select group of major appliance technicians in the United States to earn certifications as Certified Appliance Professionals with a Graduate Technician rating.

To achieve this status, each of the students passed eight different comprehensive examinations that measure the individuals’ skills in consumer relations, diagnostic techniques and repair ability for all types of domestic major appliances.

The Graduate Technician rating is a high level of recognition for technical expertise given by the major home appliance industry to graduates of an accredited trade school or technical college.

Diagnosing and repairing today’s sophisticated appliances requires special skills and constant training to keep up with changing technologies.  Certification is voluntary.  According to the PSA, only those who possess extraordinary skills in the field of appliance repair will attempt the rigorous testing procedure.

The Professional Service Association is a not-for-profit National Trade Association representing independent appliance and electronic service centers.  The PSA certification programs encourage excellence and pride in the industry.
