Manatee Technical Institute is now accepting registrations for its personal enrichment classes that begin in January.  These short-term, non-credit classes are open to all adults in the community for a nominal fee.  Educational background is not important.

Enrichment classes are a great way to learn something new, make new friends, and have some fun.  Classes starting in January are Basic & Intermediate Computer, Spanish, and Basic Marine Mechanics.

Basic Marine Mechanics is designed for boat owners to learn basic maintenance and operation of their boat and outboard engine. The class will be held at the new Main Campus on State Road 70 on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6 to 9 p.m. starting January 28 for five weeks.  The ten sessions cost only $150.  Kelly Ewing is the instructor.

The Computer and Spanish classes will be held at MTI’s North Campus in Palmetto and will start on January 27.  The Spanish class will meet from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Mondays for 9 weeks; the cost is $90.  The Computer classes will meet from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays for 4½ weeks; the cost is $90.

To register for Marine Mechanics, email Tim Arb at arbt@manateeschools.net.net or call him at 751-7900 ext. 1108.  To register for Computers or Spanish, email Vicky Rowe at rowev@manateeschools.net or call her at 845-2092, ext. 2002.

The Main Campus is located at 6305 State Road 70 East.  The North Campus is located at 801 Ninth Street West in Palmetto.

MTI also offers close to a 1,000 online classes, which include both enrichment and career track classes.
