MTI to hold 17TH Annual Chili Cook-off to benefit United Way

Rx Techs serve up chili

(Bradenton, FL—November 7, 2013)

Manatee Technical Institute’s 17th Annual Chili Cook-Off will be held on November 15 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.  Students from each program will compete against each other to win the best chili designation.  Tickets are $5.  Proceeds will benefit United Way of Manatee County.

In addition to the chance to win awards for their chili, students will have the chance to win awards for their costumes and booth decorations.  The theme for this year is Career Time Travel; students may dress and decorate to represent their careers from a time past or future.

Two Way, DJ Karissa Messina, a 2010 MTI Cosmetology graduate, will provide music.

The public is invited to enjoy the food, the music and the fun.  Tickets will be available the day of the event.

To benefit their career and technical student organizations, students will be selling soft drinks and other food items, such as Mississippi mud pies and tostados.  Additional student fundraising activities include “horseshoes,” an egg roll and a corn-hole toss.

Representatives from United Way and MTI’s Board of Governors will serve as judges.

MTI is located at 6305 State Road 70 East, one mile west of I-75.  For more information, contact MTI event organizer Nancy Lawrence at lawrence@manateeschools.net or 941.751.7900, ext. 1009, or visit MTI’s website.
