Record number of Manatee Tech students gave blood on 9/11
Zachary Carden, a 24-year-old carpentry student at Manatee Technical Institute, donated blood during a memorial blood drive at the main campus on 9/11. He was one of 111 MTI students and staff who donated over the two-day drive. “The 9/11 blood drive always has the largest turn-out,” said Kelly Ewing, instructor and blood drive organizer for the school, “and this is the largest yet.” Until this drive, the school typically had 60 to 70 donors. OneBlood gave each person who donated blood a “Twin Towers Never Forget” t-shirt and a wellness check-up.
