Middle schoolers get a taste of trade school opportunities at Manatee Technical College | School District of Manatee County
This week, students from six Manatee County middle schools including Lincoln Memorial, King, Nolan and Sugg, explored career options and programs offered by Manatee Technical College.
The district’s ACTE (Adult, Career and Technical Education) department worked with MTC to make the special field trip possible.
Selected students are involved in career and technical organizations at their schools, such as FBLA (business), FFA (agriculture), TSA (technology), HOSA (health careers) or culinary programs.
Other participants may have already expressed interest in a specific career path or trade school.
Tour guides explained various programs – for example: culinary, diesel, automotive and electrical – and told students about the successful careers MTC graduates have obtained.
They also learned about the dual-enrollment program for high school students.
Teachers said it was a great learning experience and organizers plan to expand the field trip to more students this fall.
